ALEXANDRIA - Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a fatal head-on collision between a truck and a sedan claimed the lives of five people near Alexandria on Monday afternoon, 27 June 2022.

It is reported that on the mentioned date at about 14:45, police were summoned to an accident scene on route R72 near Alexandria.

All five occupants in a Renault Kwid succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of a white Scania truck escaped unscathed.

Police are in the process of identifying the five deceased persons and also tracing their families.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are forming part of the investigation.
