Members of the Maitland Flying Squad arrested two suspects aged 24 and 26 for the possession of a hijacked vehicle, unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Thursday 17 October 2022.
The members were following up on information received about a hijacked vehicle when they spotted it in Mfuleni. A high speed chase ensued and with the help of a police helicopter, the suspects were apprehended. The police also recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The firearm will be sent to ballistics for analysis and the suspects are due to make a court appearance in the Stellenbosch Magistrates court on Monday, 21 November 2022.
