Anti-Gang Unit members arrest suspects in possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition

The determination of police members to rid the streets of unlicensed and prohibited firearms led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition.

Police members attached to the Anti-Gang unit conducted a tracing operation in Lentegeur on Wednesday 28 December 2022 in response to the recent spate of gang violence which plagued the area. They responded to information and pounced on an address in Verdi Street in Mandalay. They tactically approached the address and searched the entire premises. The police members confiscated three 9mm pistol with ammunition and arrested and detained two males aged 31 and 34 on a charge of possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make a court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
