In an intelligence driven operation, Anti-Gang Unit members followed up on information of a group of males busy stripping copper cables in Wells Estate early this morning, 15 November 2022.
It is alleged that at about 07:30 AGU members approached the open field where a group of males, on seeing the police vehicle started to run off in different directions. Copper cables weighing 405 kg’s was confiscated. It is alleged that the burnt and insulated cables belonged to Telkom. The estimated value of the cables is R250 000.
An enquiry was opened for further investigation.
