Holiday fun at City libraries

The City of Cape Town’s libraries will keep the young ones busy during the upcoming holiday

‘The coming school holiday is short, but no less important. It’s the last break before learners knuckle down for their final exams of the year and it’s an opportunity to relax and recharge. Holidays are often seen as missed opportunities to learn and grow and where children are potentially exposed to negative social behaviour. With our libraries’ holiday programmes, children can remain engaged in recreational and educational opportunities,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.

From Monday, 3 October, libraries will offer a variety of activities for all ages including movies, outdoor and board games, robotic boot camps, face painting, puppet shows, as well as a host of various crafts and storytelling, amongst other things, to keep children entertained and positively engaged.

‘I want to encourage our young patrons to visit their nearest library and join in the fun events. Our librarians work hard to ensure there is something for everyone and that activities are educational at the same time. Parents also have peace of mind that their children are kept busy within a safe space and in a constructive manner,’ said Councillor Van der Ross.
