GAUTENG – The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sentenced a 40-year-old woman to three years direct imprisonment for theft on Wednesday, 29 September 2021.

In 2013, Esterhuizen fraudulently created supplier’s transaction and unlawfully transferred an amount of R450 000 into her bank account. She was arrested and found guilty in January 2015.

The court sentenced Esterhuizen to three years imprisonment which was entirely suspended on condition that she paid back the money she stole from her former employer, Meat 2 Oceans, a food market based in Pretoria West.

In February this year, the court uplifted Esterhuizen’s sentence for being in contempt of court and not complying with the sentence conditions.

An apprehension order warrant was issued against Esterhuizen which led the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in Pretoria to re-arrest her.

The court consequently uplifted Esterhuizen’s three years imprisonment suspended sentence to be immediately enforced to three years direct imprisonment.
