Vigilant SAPS members apprehend drug peddler

NORTHERN CAPE – In an effort to root out drug trafficking in the Pixely Ka-Seme district, a joint team comprising of members from Prieska, Marydale and Niekerkshoop joined forces to clamp down on crime on 24 October 2022 at approximately 08:30.

While driving from Marydale to Prieska, the members noticed two men sitting at the hiking spot in Prieska.

When the men saw the police members approaching, they fled into the veld. However, the members were able to apprehend one and upon searching his bag, they found dagga weighing 23 kilograms.

They confiscated the dagga with an estimated street value of more than R100 000-00 and arrested the 38-year-old suspect and charged him for possession of dagga. The suspect will soon appear in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of dagga.

Police in the province will put more boots on the ground in an effort to root out crime especially during the festive season and beyond.
