Vehicle dealership salesperson and accomplice arrested for fraud

LIMPOPO – The vehicle dealership salesperson aged 41 and his 26 year-old accomplice, have been arrested by the Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation members for alleged fraud on Saturday, 16 July 2022.

It is alleged that during April this year, a vehicle dealership salesperson based in Makhado facilitated the process of vehicle finance application for the client who is an accomplice. It is further alleged that the client did not meet the requirements but he was assisted by the salesperson to get the deal on a Toyota Avanza worth R573 759-56 approved through ABSA bank.

After the deal was successfully approved and the vehicle was delivered to the client, the bank realized that the documents were fraudulent.

The case was opened and referred to the Hawks for further Investigation.

Both suspects are expected to appear in the Makhado Magistrate's court on Monday, 18 July 2022 to face charges relating to fraud and forgery.

The Hawks investigation on the matter continues.
