WESTERN CAPE – Harare police members came under fire on Friday (2022-05-06) in Enkanini informal settlement Khayelitsha, when they searched for wanted suspects involved in a case of carjacking.

Unknown suspects inside the shack fired numerous gunshots at the officers when they knocked at the door, with the officers returning fire in retaliation. They confiscated three pistols with ammunition and mobile phones. Four suspects between the ages of 22 and 25 were arrested and detained on charges of possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition, possession of presumed stolen property and attempted murder. Three of the suspects who sustained injuries as a result of gunshot wounds, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment under police guard.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
