NELSPRUIT – A suspect, aged 56, arrested on 25 June 2022 for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle at Phola, near Hazyview, was remanded in custody after appearing in the Kabokweni Magistrate‘s Court yesterday, 27 June 2022.
According to the report, police received information about a vehicle, an Isuzu single cab bakkie which was previously hijacked in Acornhoek during the month of May 2022. Police then proceeded to the scene where the vehicle was said to have been seen. Upon arrival at the scene, the bakkie was found and the suspect who attended a funeral was arrested. A case of possession of suspected stolen vehicle was opened at the Masoyi police station.
The arrested suspect, Isaac Potlwane will appear again at Masoyi Magistrate’s Court for bail application on 01 July 2022.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrest of the perpetrator as well as the recovery of the vehicle, commending the incredible work done by members of the community who alerted police when they noticed the suspected stolen vehicle.
