NORTH WEST - The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Mahikeng have arrested six suspects who are linked to a Cash In Transit (CIT) robbery that occurred in 2018. It is reported that eleven suspects attacked Fidelity security personnel who were transporting money to Itsoseng, Lichtenburg and Coligny. The armed suspects bombed the truck and set the vehicle they used alight. They made off with security guards’ firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash.
A warrant for their arrest was issued and the six suspects were arrested. They are expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates’ court today, 24 January 2024 where they are facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. More arrests are eminent.
