Pretoria: Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has emphasized the critical need for timely and efficient delivery of basic services to communities, highlighting that delays can undermine public confidence in the government and compromise the dignity of citizens. Ntuli shared these concerns during the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Report Back Session held at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature. According to South African Government News Agency, the session, which focused on addressing the challenges in delivering viable municipalities for enhanced service delivery, saw Ntuli stressing that delays deepen existing backlogs and erode public trust. He emphasized that improving service delivery is vital for overcoming blockages, addressing backlogs, and restoring trust between the government and its people. Ntuli pointed out that municipalities play a crucial role in service delivery and must be adequately supported and held accountable to ensure tangible improvements in community life. He also called for stronger coordinati on across all levels of government to address service delivery challenges sustainably. The Premier assured that the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is committed to enhancing municipal functionality and service delivery across the province. The NCOP Report Back Session served as a platform to review service delivery challenges, strengthen accountability, and ensure government actions meet community needs. Ntuli reiterated the importance of focusing on measurable progress and responsive institutions to improve the quality of life for KwaZulu-Natal residents. Additionally, he reflected on the successful hosting of the 46th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit in Durban, noting that such events elevate the province's profile and contribute to tourism and economic activity.
