Police members stop drug dealers in their tracks

WESTERN CAPE – SAPS members in the Western Cape, committed to the cause of a crime free society, extend gratitude to members of the public, who play a vital role in the fight against crime by reporting criminal activities. These tip-offs contribute towards eradicating drugs and illegal firearms.

Yesterday, Milnerton Police arrested two suspects for possession of drugs worth Half a million rand after following up on information.

Members of the Milnerton Crime Prevention Unit received information about a suspicious vehicle driving from Parklands to Cape Town on Tuesday, 17 January 2023. They parked and were performing observation duties at Lagoon Beach around mid-day when they spotted the vehicle and pulled it over. A search was conducted which led to the confiscated of tik and cocaine worth R500 000-00 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two male suspects aged 37 and 45 were arrested and detained at Milnerton SAPS. They will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s court, once charged.

In an unrelated incident, members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team brought a house robbery to a halt when they responded to a complaint from radio control.

The members who were deployed in Harare, Khayelitsha were doing patrols on Monday, 16 January 2023. They were informed of a house robbery in progress at Hamba Street, Harare. The members responded promptly and as they arrived at the address, two male suspects came out running. One was caught behind the house while the other one fled to the neighbour’s yard with police members in pursuit. Both suspects were arrested and a gas gun with ammunition and tik was confiscated.

Once charged, they will make their court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s court.
