A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Otjiwarongo on Wednesday.

According to the Namibian Police Force’s head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the deceased was identified by his relatives as Tooi Christopher Mason.

The incident is suspected to have occurred between 17h00 and 17h30 while Mason was home alone in the Orwetoveni residential area.

Mbeha said when his parents returned from work they stopped at the gate and called their son to open the gate, but there was no response.

“His mother then opened the gate and the father drove into the yard, where he discovered his body in the garage,” she said.

No suicide note was found and no foul play was suspected.

Police investigations continue.
