Taipei:Bombali The Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs (MoGCA), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) under the Spotlight Initiative, has strengthened its partnership with Namibia to enhance the implementation of the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System Plus (GBVIMS+).
According to Sierra Leone News Agency, a three-day South-South learning exchange was conducted across Bombali and Koinadugu districts from November 3 to 5, 2026. The event brought together officials and practitioners from Sierra Leone and Namibia to share experiences and best practices in managing gender-based violence (GBV) cases, reporting, survivor protection, and referral services. The program included visits to One-Stop Centres to evaluate service delivery and institutional coordination.
Charles B. Vandi, Chief Director of Protection at MoGCA, inaugurated the engagement in Bombali District, emphasizing the significance of GBVIMS+ in enhancing coordination among service providers and improving protection services for survivors at One-Stop Centres. National GBV Consultant Ramatu Kargbo provided an extensive presentation on the system's operations, highlighting tools for reporting, data protection, confidentiality, survivor-centred approaches, and referral procedures.
Participants from Sierra Leone and Namibia engaged in an interactive session to exchange experiences, address operational concerns, and explore approaches to improving cooperation in GBV prevention and response. In Koinadugu District, the delegation visited a One-Stop Centre to observe its operations and discuss facility management and service delivery with case workers.
The exchange provided valuable insights for the Namibian delegation on Sierra Leone's GBVIMS+ implementation, facilitating a platform for sharing lessons and addressing challenges in responding to gender-based violence. This district-level engagement builds on prior interactions in Freetown and is part of ongoing efforts by MoGCA and UNFPA, under the Spotlight Initiative, to bolster institutional capacity and promote international cooperation in combating gender-based violence.
