The South African National Road Agency (SANRAL) in partnership with the City of Cape Town recently installed a traffic signal at the intersection of the N2 and Mew Way in Khayelitsha. 

‘Mobility and road safety are core strategic pillars of SANRAL’s operations and we are pleased to be part of this collaboration with the City of Cape Town, in effecting safer mobility for all road users of Cape Town,’ said SANRAL Western Region Manager, Randall Cable.

‘I am happy to see this project completed as it speaks to our commitment to working with other spheres of government on projects that are aimed at improving the lives of our residents. The new signals will assist in alleviating the congestion for those travelling on the N2 and wanting to enter Khayelitsha at Mew Way. We were informed that traffic backed up during peak hours in particular as there were no signals to improve traffic flow. This intersection then had to be managed by officers from our Traffic Services. Thus, having this interchange signalised will be a huge relief to everyone using the N2, the R300 and Mew Way,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
