Freetown: The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has successfully concluded a two-day Leadership and Management Training for its staff, which culminated in a certification ceremony held on 2nd April 2026 at the Civil Service Training College (CSTC). According to Sierra Leone News Agency, the Human Resource Unit of MTHE orchestrated this capacity-building exercise, which began on 1st April, with the aim of strengthening leadership skills, refining management practices, and enhancing institutional effectiveness across its operations. The two-day event was structured to ensure comprehensive learning and application of skills in leadership and management. Day two of the training began with a review session led by Aruna William Saha, a Senior Human Resource Officer at MTHE, who recapped the key lessons from the previous day. Rebecca Saffa, the Director of Human Resources, officially opened the proceedings by welcoming the attendees and acknowledging their active participation during the initial se ssions. She encouraged the participants to maintain their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the final day of the training. The first session of the day featured Chernor I. Mansaray, Director of Performance Management at the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), who provided attendees with practical tools aimed at improving performance within public institutions. This session fostered an interactive environment where attendees could share their workplace experiences and discuss ongoing challenges. The subsequent session was led by Dr. Mohamed Taylor, Rev. Dr. Olivia Wesley, and Permanent Secretary Mohamed Sheick Kargbo. This segment focused on translating newly acquired knowledge into actionable strategies. Participants engaged in group discussions to develop practical action plans, which would allow them to integrate their newfound insights into their daily responsibilities effectively. To assess the effectiveness of the training, a post-training evaluation was conducted to measure the understanding and learning outcomes among the attendees. The program concluded with a certification ceremony that recognized the dedication and successful completion of each participant. In his closing remarks, Deputy Regional Director-South, Dr. Ernest Lavalie, commended the participants for their dedication and encouraged them to apply their acquired skills immediately to improve service delivery within the Ministry.
