Mokgareng: Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenny Morolong, has successfully concluded his philanthropic school shoe donation drive at four schools in the Greater Taung Local Municipality, located in the North West province. According to South African Government News Agency, the handover ceremony took place on Monday at Mokgareng Secondary School as part of the initiative launched in July 2025 during the commemoration of Nelson Mandela Month. The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of partnerships between business and government in fostering youth development. The initiative received support from the KwaZulu-Natal International Business Association through its collaboration with Brand South Africa. Morolong emphasized the significant role businesses can play, stating, "Sixty percent of the population in Africa is young people; that is why today we have extended a request to business to do its part, because there is a limitation to what government can do." He further remarked on the importance of e ducation for the African child, connecting it with the broader prosperity of Africa. The partnership between business and government is seen as a step towards uplifting citizens' lives and reflects the spirit of humanity, especially highlighted on Africa Day. The school shoes donation drive is a part of the government's broader commitment to establishing a dignified learning environment for underprivileged learners. It aims to support those in need and contribute to the creation of a nation that offers equal opportunities for all.
