Nan: The Ministry of Transport has unveiled a strategic plan to address flooding affecting the highway network and Nan Nakhon Airport. "Phatthapong" is actively monitoring the flood situation in Nan, collaborating with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to prioritize assistance for the affected population.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Patarapong Pataraprasit, Deputy Minister of Transport, visited Nan Province to assess the flood situation. He held discussions with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and other key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Yuchanan Wongsawat, Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Suriya Jungrungruangkit, to strategize urgent aid for flood victims. The meeting also included Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, Minister of Education, Deputy Minister of Interior Jetset Thaiseth, and Director-General of the Department of Highways Piyapong Chiwatnakulpaishal.

Mr. Phatarapong detailed the impact of the monsoon-induced floods in Nan Province, particularly in Pua District, where rainfall reached 277.6 millimeters, causing flash floods. He and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul are working on integrated solutions to alleviate the suffering of those affected. The Nan Highway Districts reported 14 damage locations across 7 roads, including flooding, damaged bridges, and landslides. Efforts are underway to clear the roads, with six already passable. However, two locations on Highway 1256 remain impassable due to a collapsed bridge approach and embankment issues, with repairs ongoing by the Lampang Road Construction Center.

For Nan Nakhon Airport, preventive measures include dredging drainage systems, ensuring water supply, and maintaining emergency equipment readiness. The airport is coordinating with Thai AirAsia and Nok Air to offer compensation for affected flights, providing options such as free changes, credit retention, or refunds. Collaborations with external agencies have been established for additional support, including mobile generators, water pumps, and military trucks for passenger transport.

Mr. Phatarapong emphasized the Ministry of Transport's directive for all agencies to remain on standby for disaster response. Immediate deployment of officials to affected areas is crucial to open temporary routes and construct Bailey bridges, ensuring the flow of relief supplies and medical personnel. He stressed the importance of Nan Nakhon Airport's cooperation with airlines to protect passenger rights and prioritize public safety.
