MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Lenah Miga has lauded the residents of Ditsobotla local municipality for participating in the voter registration weekend which started on 29 to 30 October 2022.
MEC Miga has expressed her satisfaction at the voters’ turnout in some of the areas in Ditsobotla during the voter registration weekend. She also confirmed that no incidents of violence or disruptions had been reported in all the 10 wards when the voting stations closed on Sunday at 17h00.
“We are urging the people of Ditsobotla to make use of the opportunity on 14 December to vote for the type of leaders who will bring changes in the municipality. We are hoping to have free and fair elections”, she said.
The municipal by-elections will be held in all 30 wards in Ditsobotla on 14 December 2022. The council of Ditsobotla was dissolved following a decision by the Provincial Executive Committee on 14 September 2022 to place the municipality under administration in terms of Section 139 (1)(c) of the Constitution.
