Love Your Street Campaign Expands to Kliptown with Ministerial Support

Soweto:Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, is set to bring the Love Your Street service delivery programme to Kliptown in Soweto on Tuesday morning. The initiative aims to foster community pride and improve neighborhood conditions.

According to South African Government News Agency, the Minister will be joined by Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero, senior government officials, NGOs, and civil society organizations. The campaign, a joint effort by The Presidency and the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), seeks to promote active citizenry and create clean, safe neighborhoods.

The Love Your Street campaign, initially launched in the Western Cape, has recently extended to the Ekhurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. It focuses on transforming neglected and unsafe areas identified as Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) hotspots into secure community spaces. This includes raising awareness about GBVF and educating the public on reporting mechanisms and available services.

The programme also aligns with other government initiatives, such as the Clean Cities and Towns campaign launched by Deputy President Paul Mashatile in 2025. Additionally, it supports the Presidential 1 Billion Trees Planting campaign, which encourages environmental sustainability and community participation.
