POLOKWANE- As part of the Crime Prevention Strategy, the South African Police Service has an obligation to consistently inform and educate the public about crime prevention tips, thereby contributing to the prevention and reduction of crime.The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe today, 17 January 2023 held a greet and meet session with the SABC Regional Operations Manager Mr Oupa Joe Mamabolo and his team at the SAPS Provincial Headquarters.
The session which was initiated by the giant media group, aimed at paying homage to the Provincial Commissioner for her sterling command and leadership in the province to protect and serve the citizens of Limpopo province with pride and honour.
The SABC team comprised of the Marketing Manager Rhudzane Mashaba, Head of Security, Avhasei Nemaguvhuni and Account Executive Sales Rose Selolo, while the Provincial Commissioner was accompanied by the Provincial Head of Corporate Communication and Liaison Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
The Provincial Commissioner, as described by the colleques in the media space, is someone who is easy going but firm when it comes to performing her duties and ensuring that the communities receive excellent service delivery.
The SAPS in Limpopo through the Provincial Corporate Communication has since reached an agreement with the SABC radio combo comprising Thobela FM, Phalaphala FM and Munghana Lonene for the provision of slots to enable the police to reach out to their intended target. Subsequent to this initiative, dedicated team of men and women in blue derived from the Corporate Communication and Liaison department, have been honouring these slots which continue to make an enormous impact in educating listeners on the prevalence of various crimes such as gender-based violence, mob attacks, missing persons, contact crimes etc.
During the deliberations, another mutual agreement was reached of strengthened partnership on social responsibility initiatives
The Provincial Commissioner on behalf of the members of the police service in Limpopo extended appreciation and gratitude towards the SABC team for the great initiative and recognising the daily efforts of the men and women in blue to combat crime and protect the people of Limpopo.
