KAMESH – SAPS Kamesh Crime Prevention Unit members launched a manhunt for house robbery suspect this morning. The suspects were successfully traced and arrested in Greenfields.
A total of four suspects, aged between 25 and 30 are being detained on two cases of house robbery committed on Thursday, 14 April 2022.
In the first incident, on 14 April 2022, at about 02:20, the 38-year-old complainant was awoken by a familiar voice calling her. Approximately four males entered the house, and one male, known to the complainant, pointed her with a firearm. Two schoolbags, a primus stove and a jacket were taken by the suspects. The incident took place in Lawu Street in Greenshields 2 in Kamesh.
In the second incident, at about 16:00 on the same day, the complainant, aged 36, and his wife were at their Tambo Street home in Mandela Village when five males entered their house through the front door. The suspects were armed with knives. A laptop charger, a spade, hammer, a blue jacket and a cellphone were taken. When the complainant resisted, he was stabbed in his left shoulder. The complainant’s wife managed to flee.
SAPS Kamesh Crime Prevention members were tasked to look out for the suspects and four suspects were traced and arrested at about 01:30 this morning. The suspects were arrested at separate residential premises in the Greenshields area. The school bag and the primus stove were recovered.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Kariega Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
