Yala: Four suspects involved in unrest in southern Thailand have been arrested along with AK-47 assault rifles. A joint special operations unit from three agencies conducted a raid in Sa-ae Subdistrict, Krong Pinang District, Yala Province, leading to the arrest of the suspects linked to southern insurgency activities. During the operation, authorities also seized an AK-47 rifle, which had been previously used in ambush incidents in Yarong and Mayo Districts in 2013.

According to Thai News Agency, the special operations unit collaborated across multiple agencies to enforce the law in the region. The arrested individuals were identified as Mr. Amran, Mr. Bukhari, Mr. Alimin, and Mr. Ibrahim. Amran, Bukhari, and Alimin face charges related to the joint possession of firearms and ammunition without proper licensing. Additionally, Ibrahim was charged with possession and consumption of a Category 1 narcotic, specifically methamphetamine.

Further investigations into the seized AK-47 rifle revealed its involvement in two fatal shooting incidents in Yarang and Mayo districts, Pattani province, back in 2013. Authorities are actively pursuing further inquiries to uncover any additional connections and potential suspects related to these past incidents.
