According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit pointed out that opinion polls reflect mixed sentiments, with some indicating that the government will face a decline. However, he believes that societal pressure will encourage improvements in government performance. He detailed the party's preparations for the upcoming parliamentary session, which include submitting important legislation related to palm oil, national education, social security, and local governance.
Abhisit also noted that the party would address the 400 billion baht loan decree, criticizing the government's handling of economic issues and highlighting the near-ceiling public debt. He expressed concerns over the government's failure to address the rising cost of living and energy prices, despite promises of structural reforms. The opposition plans to showcase the Constitutional Court's ruling, where experts aligned with the Democrat Party concluded that the government's actions lack economic stability.
On Thursday, the parliament will address violence in the South, followed by discussions on three major issues: the Senate election collusion, constitutional amendments, and urgent matters needing immediate attention. The Democrat Party intends to work with opposition parties to demonstrate that the Election Commission should refer the election matter to the Supreme Court. They are also pushing for transparency in the Senator selection process and seeking to empower the Speaker of the House to refer alleged misconduct cases to the Supreme Court.
Abhisit, as a member of the Committee on Courts and Independent Organizations, is involved in efforts to restore public trust in independent organizations. This includes discussions with several experts on establishing appropriate checks and balances. Regarding the no-confidence debate, he confirmed the Democrat Party's participation and highlighted the need for thorough preparation and collaboration with opposition coalition parties.
