Deputy Minister Thembi Siweya conducts back-to-school campaign in Eastern Cape, 25 Jan

Deputy Minister to conduct the Back-To-School Campaign and state of readiness for the reopening of schools in the Eastern Cape

Deputy Minister in The Presidency, Hon. Thembi Rhulani Siweya, will conduct the Back-To-School Campaign and assess the state of readiness for the reopening of schools at Gaduka Junior Secondary School in Mthatha, King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province. The Back-To-School Campaign is a Government initiative which is aimed at encouraging all stakeholders to participate in promoting teaching and learning at schools.

As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister will engage with the district management, school management, teachers, parents of school learners, school governing body, civil society, and police to assess the safety and security of leaners and teachers in the school premises. The Deputy Minister views this visit as an important intervention in promoting and motivating learners to stay in schools.
