City’s Human Settlements Roadshow visits Lentegeur

The City’s Human Settlements Directorate is visiting areas across the metro and engaging directly with residents about their housing-related questions and on housing projects and plans in their areas over the coming months. Today, 29 November 2022, the City visited Lentegeur in Subcouncil 12.

Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and senior officials in the Directorate visited the Subcouncil 12 Roadshow. Various departments within the directorate were there to assist the residents of Subcouncil 12, which consists of five wards (Ward 35, 76, 82, 92 and 116) and makes up parts of Mitchells Plain and Philippi.

‘Feedback on City projects was provided to the Subcouncil. Residents also had the opportunity to receive assistance directly from officials about their housing questions.

‘Human Settlements’ officials will help residents with their Community Residential Unit (CRU) maintenance enquiries, tenancy and Housing Needs Register matters in the weeks and months to come as the Roadshow visits areas across the city. Thank you to all of our stakeholders, including community members, councillors, project steering committees, contractors and City officials, for working with us as we continue to deliver houses and services to our residents.

‘The City has allocated R2,8 billion for Human Settlements over the next three years and in the last financial year, the Directorate spent more than 97% of its grant funding for projects and programmes. Grant funding spend is an incredibly important indicator of service delivery and a pro-poor focus as it is earmarked for the most poor communities, for human settlements and basic services. The visit to Subcouncil 12 was successful and we look forward to assisting residents in areas all around the metro in the coming months,’ said Councillor Booi.
