During the visit, Anutin received updates on the landmine situation in Thailand and the ongoing efforts to clear mines from affected areas. A key discussion point was the proposal to extend Thailand's fourth landmine clearance period by five years, aiming to continue these critical operations until the end of 2031. The visit also included viewing photographic evidence of a recent landmine incident and understanding the challenges faced by soldiers on the ground.
Thailand has identified 15 districts across six provinces—Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, and Trat—that are contaminated with landmines. Between December 2025 and March 2026, significant progress was made, with 673 landmines and explosive ordnance cleared, and 390,883 square meters of land deemed safe for use. These efforts illustrate Thailand's commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens and the protection of its borders.
