Accused appeared in court for vehicle finance fraud

KWAZULU-NATAL – On 6 July 2022 Seelan Abrahams (49) briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s court following his arrest by Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation. He was charged for vehicle finance fraud.

Abrahams allegedly applied for vehicle finance in one of the banks in 2018. His application to purchase a vehicle worth R740 000-00 was approved. It was later discovered that Abrahams submitted fraudulent documents and a case of fraud was reported at Cato Manor police station as a result he was arrested yesterday.

He was released on warning and the case was postponed to 27 July 2022.
