WINBURG - A 36-year-old rapist was found guilty and sentenced by the Bultfontein Regional Court on 17 June 2022 to 18 years imprisonment for rape of an 11-year-old girl in Winburg during September 2017.

It is alleged that the girl was on her way home when the accused followed her and dragged her to an open field where she was raped.

The victim ran home to report the incident.

The crime was reported to Winburg SAPS and a case of rape was registered and assigned to Detective Sergeant Mpho Kotsamere of Lejweleputswa District FCS Unit.
