SAPS Cullinan is investigating a missing person case and appeals to the public for assistance

Kgauhelo Prince Ntabanyane, aged 24, was last seen by his mother when he left their place of residence in extension seven Refilwe, Cullinan on Thursday, 10 November 2022. It is alleged that Ntabanyane is suffering from a mental disability.

Ntabanyane is tall and slender. He was wearing a light grey trouser, light green short sleeve t-shirt, an Uzzi branded hat and black leather All Star branded sneakers at the time of his disappearance.

Police investigate murder

The body of a 35-year-old male was found lying on the road after residents heard gunshots at Toilet City Duncan Village.

On the police arrival, the man was found with bullet wounds on his body.

No arrest has been effected and a murder case has been opened for investigation.

Ndwedwe murderer arrested

DURBAN – On 16 November 2022, a multidisciplinary police team arrested a 43-year-old man for two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The arrest emanates from an incident which occurred in this morning at Ezindlovini in the Ndwedwe policing precinct. The suspect arrived at the home of a man who he suspected of dating his fiancée. The suspect kicked the door open before he shot and fatally wounded the 36-year-old man.

He thereafter proceeded to the homestead of his 34-year-old fiancée where he shot and fatally wounded her. He also shot and wounded his fiancée’s mother (58) and an eight-year-old child who were transported to hospital. The suspect fled the scene in his gateway vehicle. Police officers from the surrounding police stations and units were mobilised and gave chase.

The suspect was arrested at Ngcongangconga in Nsuze where he was also found in unlawful possession a firearm and ammunition. He will make his first appearance at the Nsuze Magistrate’s Court today 17 November 2022.

Acting provincial commissioner launches probe after seven mourners were gunned down in Bityi

ZWELITSHA – The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso expressed her shock following the murder of seven mourners at a homestead in Bityi, and has immediately directed that a team of all the relevant policing units be assigned to investigate the gruesome incident.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, 16 November 2022 at about 23:30, three (03) unknown armed men forced their way into a homestead in Tantseka Location, Sithebe Administrative Area in Bityi, and opened fire.  It is further alleged that six (06) people succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the seventh victim died in hospital. Circumstances surrounding the incident are forming part of the investigation.

The victims are family relatives aged between 29 and 68, who were in mourning and arranging for the burial of their relative, Novotile Mgxada (62), who was fatally shot last week.

A case of murder (seven counts) was opened for further investigation, and the investigation has been taken over by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit.  Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Colonel Mtshiyo on 071 475 2292. The information may also be shared via Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Sun City police request community assistance in locating missing man

POTCHEFSTROOM – The police in Sun City request the community’s assistance in locating Mr Thapelo Mozima (33), who is residing at Nkgagarane in Mabeskraal, close to Sun City.

He was last seen on Thursday, 9 July 2021, at about 16:00.

During his disappearance he was wearing blue jeans with a green T-shirt and a multi coloured jersey. He is well built with an afro hair style, a broad forehead with round back head and particularly large ears. Further he has a scar on the back of his head.

Missing person sought by Sun City police

POTCHEFSTROOM – The police in Sun City request the community’s assistance in locating Sam Serame Klem Monkwe (62), who is residing at Slolha one Tweelaagte, close to Sun City.

He was last seen by his brother, leaving his house on Thursday, 13 January 2022.

During his disappearance he was wearing black trousers with a red striped T-shirt and red flat Hi-teck shoes. He is approximately 1.72 m tall and is mentally unstable.

President Ramaphosa holds bilateral meetings at G20 summit

President Cyril Ramaphosa has concluded his participation in the G20 Leaders’ Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, this week.

He was accompanied by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana

The summit brought together 20 of the world’s leading economies to discuss challenges currently plaguing the world.

According to the Presidency, President Ramaphosa held bilateral discussions with several countries on the sidelines of the summit.

“On Tuesday…President Ramaphosa held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Peoples Republic of China, His Excellency President Xi Jinping, where the two leaders affirmed the special strategic relationship between the two countries. The nations committed to grow the blossoming relationship with increased Chinese investment in infrastructure and bilateral trade,” the Presidency said in a statement.

The two presidents also discussed issues of climate change, the BRICS group of countries and support for the African Union to become a permanent member of the G20.

“The Leaders affirmed a collective position on resolving global challenges through multilateral institutions. President Ramaphosa welcomed President Xi on His Excellency’s support for China to hand over the chair of BRICS to South Africa in 2023, which coincides with 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

“The two leaders expressed support and agreement on the proposition of a permanent G20 African Union membership.  South Africa and China consent on seeking commitments from developed economies to fulfil their Paris COP21 climate agreements. The two nations further committed on more ambitious climate action goals,” the statement read.

On Thursday, President Ramaphosa and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Mark Rutte, met for a bilateral meeting.

“President Ramaphosa welcomed the support from Netherlands on the South Africa Just Energy Transition- Investment Plan (SA JET-IP). The President further emphasised that for the plan to be realised South Africa will call for increased grant funding of SA JET-IP.

“South Africa and Netherlands have a diverse and substantial historic partnership, which remains strategic to date. President Cyril Ramaphosa and Prime Minister Mark Rutte agreed to continue the discussions on a working visit that the Netherlands will undertake to South Africa,” the Presidency said.

President Ramaphosa also met with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong where the deepening of trade relations between the two countries was discussed. 

“South Africa’s exceptional relations with Singapore are focused on trade and investment promotion as well as collaboration in science and innovation, skills development, vocational training, port innovation and infrastructure development,” the statement said.
