DURBAN – A 20-year-old man is expected to appear before the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today for assaulting a man to death. It is alleged that on Saturday, 05 June 2021, at 01:30, the suspect and his friends were coming from a local tavern at Steadville area in Ladysmith when they spotted the 58-year-old man roaming around in their yard.
They then started to assault him suspecting him of witchcraft or theft. The suspects further dragged the victim out of the premises and left him in the road where he was found by a passer-by who informed the police. The victim sustained multiple head injuries.
A case of murder was opened at Ladysmith police station for investigation. The detectives worked around the clock trying to locate the suspects who were in hiding. The police managed to arrest a 20-year-old man yesterday, 06 June 2021, at Steadville area. The other suspects are still being sought by the police.
