POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, today 02 August 2021, embarked on the meet and greet session with the SAPS Capricorn District Management and the Station Commanders, at Seshego Lapa outside the City of Polokwane.

The Provincial Commissioner was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Corporate Services Major General Christine Morakaladi, the District Commissioner of Capricorn Major General Mashilo, the Provincial Heads and the District Vispol Commander. The Station Commanders from various police stations in the Capricorn District were also in attendance.

Major General Moralakadi outlined the purpose of the visit by the Provincial Commissioner and she gave an update on the Provincial vaccination program which was up and running in the past two weeks and she further encouraged all members and personnel of the South African Police Service in Limpopo to voluntarily go and vaccinate for their well-being.

The main objective of the session was to introduce the Provincial Commissioner, to strengthen and maintain the working relationship between the Provincial Office, the District Offices and Police Stations and for the Station Commanders to share their working challenges with the Provincial Commissioner which will culminate to the effective and efficient policing at all levels of command, concluded Major General Moralakadi.

Some of the challenges raised by the Station Commanders that affect service delivery, were as follows:

* Working environment, for example, the incomplete Police Stations buildings, lack of water, bad roads, insufficient human and physical resources.

In her response, the Provincial Commissioner, said that, “All the matters brought before her, were heard and she will indeed tackle them in a prioritization pattern. She reiterated the issue of being accountable, engagement with community leaders and tribal authorities and the identification of shortcomings by each station commander. She further emphasized that “When you work, you should work with passion and pull all the possible stops to provide the best service to the citizens of this province.”

The Provincial Commissioner concluded by appreciating the station commanders for openly sharing their views and challenges which will contribute to the improvement of service delivery in all aspects.
