MEC Tertuis Simmers visits Conifers Infill Development in Malibu Village, 09 Aug

As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, on Monday, 9 August 2021, Western Cape MEC of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will visit the Conifers Infill Development in Malibu Village, where a female contractor completed 91 Financed Linked Individual Subsidy (FLISP) units.

This project which had a cost of R 36 million rand was awarded to Nokhanya Services in 2017. The last 4 completed units were handed over to beneficiaries in the 4th quarter of the 2019/20 financial year.

In adherence to all COVID-19 regulations, MEC Simmers, will be joined by the contractor, Ms Faith Mabena and a small delegation. Ms Mabena will brief MEC Simmers about the development, while a few of the recipients will be visited at their homes.

MEC Simmers said: “I am looking forward to meeting and engaging Ms Mabena, as well as seeing what she has delivered. Our women are just as capable, if not more, than their male counterparts to deliver in the construction sector. We remain committed to affording opportunities to our women within this industry.

We will also be making a very important announcement during the visit, as it will further demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that our women-owned construction companies and entities are provided with opportunities from the Western Cape Government.”

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.

Members of the media are advised of the meeting point below, which is also the first house that will be visited. From there we’ll proceed to the homes of the beneficiaries.
