MAKHANDA – Foot soldiers arrived in Makhanda in Sarah Baartman District today, 30 June 2021 in preparation for operations that are planned to take place from tomorrow, 01 July 2021, to fight lawlessness in different areas of Sarah Baartman District.

The multi-disciplinary forces, led by Men For Change, are expected to stabilise hotspot areas for Gender Based Violence and Femicide, and in the process, mobilise the community to fight the scourge.

Department of Transport and other law enforcement agencies joined the parade at Grahamstown Police Station, as Station Commander, Colonel Mbulelo Pika welcomed the forces in the area.

The foot soldiers will also be stamping authority of the state in ensuring compliance with Disaster Management Act Regulations and Protocols.

The operations are anticipated to continue until Saturday, 03 July 2021.
