Joe Gqabi District – As the country is celebrating the sacrifices made by amakhodikhazi Imbokodo, female SAPS and provincial traffic employees embarked on different activities within the district in the form of roadblocks and vehicle check points.
This is in celebration of Women’s Month under the theme – “GENERATION EQUALITY REALIZATION WOMEN RIGHTS FOR AN EQUAL FUTURE.”
On Monday, 09 August 2021 various activities were held in support of Women’s Month.
In Sterkspruit a multidisciplinary operation was successfully held in the CBD area as well as vehicle check points.
The Mayor of Senqu Municipality Cllr Mposelwa graced the occasion and was accompanied by a delegation of the Senqu Women Caucus as well as members of the Community Police Forums, Religious leaders , SAPS FCS , Detective Service and Men for Change.
A roadblock was held and motorists were encouraged to adhere to the Covid-19 Regulations by wearing of a mask, sanitize and social distancing.
The protection of women and children is everyone’s business and the community was informed to report all forms of gender based violence to the necessary authorities.
A roadblock was also held at R58 between Maletswai and James Calata for vehicle check points by SAPS and provincial traffic women.
Motorists who disobeyed traffic laws were issued with traffic fines and GBV pamphlets were also issued.
SAPS Sterkspruit Station Commander Col Baninzi acknowledged the presence of the Mayor and other role players and highlighted that if everyone worked as a team of this high calibre nothing can stop us in defeating the common enemy which is crime.
