Deputy President David Mabuza, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), will officially launch the SANAC Private Sector Forum on Friday, 11 June 2021.
SANAC is a national multi-sectoral body established by cabinet to co-ordinate the national response to HIV, TB and STIs through three formal structures – government, civil society and the private sector. Until recently, the private sector had not been fully represented in SANAC, which limited the participation of the private sector in the country’s response to the HIV/Aids epidemic.
The launch by the Deputy President will ensure that the structure is fully constituted, and the forum is fully functional. The members of the forum emanate from business formations such as the Black Business Council, Council for Medical Schemes, Business Unity South Africa and the Minerals Council of South Africa to mention a few.
The launch will also be attended by the Deputy Chairperson of SANAC, Ms. Steve Letsike, as well as members of the SANAC Inter-Ministerial Committee.
