Upington: The ZF Mgcawu District hosted the annual excellence awards in Upington on Friday, 15 November 2024. In attendance were the Provincial Commissioner of Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Corporate Services, Major General Thabo Mphuthi, the District Management, Station Commanders, and Community Police Forum with its structures, as well as the Head of Government Departments and entities.
According to South African Police Service, the awards ceremony was opened with a devotion by Chaplain Titus of Employee Health and Wellness, setting the tone for the auspicious event. The welcoming remarks were conveyed by the Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Peet Coetzee, who also acknowledged the District Commissioner, Major General Monica Sebili, in absentia.
Different speakers delivered messages of support, including the Acting District Director of the Department of Transport Safety and Liaison, Mr. Dutch Scholtz, the Community Police Forum District Chairp
erson, Mr. Clement Baai, and representatives from Labour Unions, SAPU’s Mrs. Joylin Isaks and POPCRU’s Mr. Themba Smith.
In her keynote address, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated members, those who contribute positively to the organization and ultimately ensure that the SAPS objectives are achieved. She encouraged the members to stay dedicated, uplift one another, and always prioritize safety. All the recipients in the different categories were acknowledged and awarded accordingly.
