OTJIWARONGO—A 58-year-old woman died in a vehicular accident 27 kilometers west of Okakarara on the Okakarara-Otjiwarongo road Sunday morning. According to Inspector Maureen Mbeha, head of community affairs for the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, who spoke with Nampa, the accident took place around 09h00.
According to Namibia Press Agency, The driver, a 44-year-old man, was traveling from Okakarara towards Otjiwarongo when a right rear tire burst, causing him to lose control of the Toyota double cab. The vehicle veered off a bridge and rolled multiple times, critically injuring the woman, who later died at Okakarara State Hospital.
Five other passengers, ranging in age from four to 53 years, were treated for injuries at the same hospital. Four of these passengers were later transferred to hospitals in Windhoek for further medical attention, confirmed the police officer.
A culpable homicide docket was opened against the driver at the Okakarara Police Station on Sunday.
