A 29-year-old woman residing at Kehemu informal settlement in Rundu died and another was hospitalised after a brick wall fell on them on Tuesday.

Kavango East Acting Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Lucia Kahuure, confirmed the incident Tuesday evening, saying a truck transporting construction material drove into the gate of the house where the women were. This caused the brick wall to fall on the women, who were sitting next to it.

The victims were rushed to the Rundu State Hospital, where one was declared dead on arrival. The other woman sustained serious injuries on her forehead.

The survivor was admitted to the Rundu State Hospital and is in stable condition.

The deceased has been identified as Muyenga Victoria Mpande and her next of kin have been informed.

No arrest was made and police investigations continue.
