Windhoek Tragedy: Young Man Fatally Stabbed Near Local Bar

WINDHOEK – In a violent encounter early Saturday morning, a 23-year-old man was fatally wounded in an attack near a bar at Goreangab Dam in Windhoek. The young man succumbed to his injuries after a stabbing incident that also left his companion wounded.

According to NAMPA, the assault occurred at approximately 02h39 when the victim, along with his friends, was targeted shortly after leaving the vicinity of a bar where they were playing a jackpot machine. The report detailed that the young man and a friend returned to the scene, both sustaining stab wounds. Despite the efforts to flee, the 23-year-old only managed a short distance before collapsing and dying on the spot.

The second victim was rushed to Katutura State Hospital for medical treatment. As of the report, no suspects have been identified in connection with the stabbing, and police investigations are ongoing.

This incident was not the only crime reported in the area over the weekend. In another case of violence on Friday, a 22-year-old man was robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint in Havana, a district in Windhoek. The stolen vehicle, a Golf 7, has not been valued yet, and the perpetrator of this crime remains at large. The Namibian Police Force is actively investigating this incident as well.

These separate, yet equally concerning incidents have raised alarms about public safety in Windhoek, prompting increased vigilance among residents and a call for swift action by law enforcement agencies.
