WESTENBURG - The Police in Westenburg have joined forces with Solar Plant Company to commemorate Youth Day celebration at Bergneck Village.
The event held on 16 June 2022, was led by Warrant Officer Tlolane, Rural Safety coordinator and acting VISPOL Commander Warrant Officer Makgotla, Social Crime Prevention coordinator Sergeant Shipalane, Sector 1 Commander Sergeant Maleka and crime prevention members supported by station Community Policing Forum Executive Committee.
In attendance were also members of Polokwane FCS Unit, learners from Sebotse Combined School other stakeholders such as Limpopo Childline, National African Farmers Union( NAFU), Traditional leadership, NGO's, Faith based organisations, youth and community at large.
The SAPS was afforded the opportunity to address the audience and started by highlighting the significance of Youth Day celebration. The other crucial issues addressed were abuse, sexual offences, domestic violence and gender-based violence. Learners were also cautioned about absenteeism and to focus more on their studies.
The learners and the local youth participated in various activities such as soccer match and musical dances and awarded medals as a token of appreciation. The SAPS Westenburg and Bergneck Masters team closed the event with a friendly match.
