CAPE TOWN – Efforts by Strand police to rid their streets of unlicensed firearms yielded positive results when they arrested a 15-year-old suspect for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Secor Drive, Strand yesterday.
The members were busy with patrols, when they received information about a suspect walking with a firearm and a description of the suspect was given. The suspect, fitting the description, was spotted and was stopped and searched. He was found in possession of a firearm, with serial number filed off and ammunition.
The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Strand once charged.
In an unrelated matter, members of Worcester police arrested two adult males for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Sampson Street, Riverview, Worcester, yesterday morning. The members executed a search warrant at the premises and found a firearm and ammunition hidden under a caravan in the yard.
Once charged, the suspects will appear in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
Furthermore members of Elsies River police arrested two suspects both, 31 years old, when they acted on information given by the public of suspects walking with a firearm last night in Warwick Place, Avon Estate. The suspects were apprehended and found with a firearm with ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects will make their court appearance in Goodwood on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
