Western Cape Police arrest suspect for the illegal possession of firearms

Vigilance displayed by members attached to Delft Crime Prevention Unit and Maitland Flying Squad, who pursued information following a shooting incident in Leiden, Delft on Monday, 23 September 2024, involving a Toyota Quantum and a Volkswagen Polo, led to the arrest of an adult male who was found at a hospital in his vehicle with two firearms in his possession.

The members gathered information and followed it up and found the suspect who was involved in a shooting incident. They searched the vehicle he was driving and found two 9mm pistols with ammunition in the vehicle. The suspect face charges for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

He will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.

In an unrelated matter, members of Public Order Police followed up information of drugs that are being sold at a premises in Navara Street, Belhar and searched the premises on Monday, 23 September 2024.

Upon searching the premises they found five medium size transparent plastic pack
ets containing dagga, dagga cigarettes and small plastic packets containing dagga. A 33-year-old man was arrested for the possession of dagga and will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 25 September 2024.
