WATERVAL- The police in Waterval continues to strengthen partnership with Tribal Authorities in the Vhembe District to curb crime in rural communities and ensure rural safety.
Evidently, a courtesy visit was made by the police and external stakeholders that included retired members from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Community Policing Forum (CPF), Councillors, Farmers, Tribal Council and FET students on Wednesday 18 May 2022.
The following aspects were discussed as follows:
- Landlords of the rental residences to tighten and upgrade security.
- The Tribal Authority to be alert and willing to assist the landlords who are experiencing any challenges at the premises.
- The students were discouraged about the abuse of alcohol and drugs. Moreover, they were cautioned not to allow strangers in the premises.
- The formation of street patrollers and committees were strongly advocated by the Waterval Station Commander.
