DWS held a successful Baswa le Meetse (BLM) Educators Districts Workshops
Department of Water and Sanitation Free State Region held Districts Educators Workshops in the province. The workshops were to inform educators and adjudicators about new guidelines for (BLM) Baswa le Meetse Competitions.
The District Educators Workshops took place in Fezile Dhabi District at Kroonstad and Sasolburg. Thabomofutsanyana District in Qwa-Qwa. Lejweleputswa District in Welkom. Mangaung Metro in Bloemfontein followed by Xhariep District in Trombsburg, Koffiefontein and Rouxville.
Baswa le Meetse (BLM) Competition is a programme under Water and Sanitation Education Program aimed at learners in Intermediate phase. It is meant to recognize the achievements of youths in their efforts on educating society about intergraded water resource management, promoting water use efficiency, as well as health and hygiene.
Learners were encouraged to identify any water and sanitation project as a result come up with solution and portray it in any of the 5 categories chosen Poster, Music, Poetry, Praise Poetry or Drama.
Winners from province gets 1st prize R10 00.00 2nd R8 000, 3rd R6 000. National winner’s 1st R 20 000, 2nd R15 00, 3rd R10 000.00 respectively. The competitions run from district, provincial and proceed to national. The participating project could focus on (DWS) theme” Water is life, Sanitation is dignity”. With key focus on 5 areas namely, Access to Water, Water Quality, Water Use Efficiency, Sanitation Health, and Hygiene
