The hunt on outstanding wanted suspects who allegedly committed series of robberies in Meqheleng continued and police successfully arrested four suspects found hiding under the bed and seized suspected stolen properties and dangerous weapons.
On Wednesday, 22 December 2021 Welkom Public Order Police Reaction Team were on duty at Meqheleng near Ficksburg following up information on whereabouts of outstanding wanted suspects of series of robberies which took place last week in the township. The team went to an identified house.
Apparently, they found three wanted suspects hiding under the bed and arrested them.
The police found suspected stolen property such as four cellphones. They proceeded to a second house at Zone 8 Meqheleng and another suspect was found in possession of unlicenced ammunitions.
Two of the four suspects are positively linked to murder of an elderly person aged 63 killed at Zone 3 together with other five suspects arrested on 19 December. They also confiscated two pangas knives found inside the shack.
The four suspects aged between 17 and 24 are expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, possession of unlicenced ammunitions, common robberies and murder.
