DURBAN – Lindikhaya Matiwana (28) was arrested by Port Shepstone detectives during a search for the wanted suspect at Mkholombe Informal Settlement in the Port Shepstone on 06 January 2022.

 

Information led detectives to a house in which the suspect who was wanted for an attempted murder case was hiding. During his arrest, the search continued for the weapon that was used during the commission of the crime. A 9mm pistol with a magazine was found in the house. The recovered firearm was reported stolen in Port Shepstone in October 2021. It is alleged that on 16 December 2021 at 21:00, a 37-year-old woman was shot and wounded by a known suspect while at Mkolombe area.

 

The suspect made his first appearance in the Port Shepstone. Magistrate’s Court on 7 January 2022 where he faced charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. He remains in police custody until 17 January 2022 for a formal bail application.
