DURBAN – Eshowe police were conducting crime prevention duties at King Dinuzulu on 14 June 2022, when searched a man spotted on the road. Upon searching him, police officers found 54 heroin capsules in his pocket. The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and detained at the Eshowe police station.
That evening the suspect’s friend arrived at the Eshowe police station to visit him and bring him food as well as toiletries. The police officer inspected the items and discovered 94 heroin capsules hidden inside a loaf of bread. The suspect was questioned about the drugs and he begged the police officer to not arrest him. The suspect also attempted to bribe the police officer. He was arrested and charged for possession of drugs and bribery.
The estimated value of the drugs is R6000. Both suspects aged 31 and 35 are appearing at Eshowe Magistrate’s Court today for possession of drugs.
