The vigilant members at Skildpadshek Port of Entry arrested a 41-year-old man for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle on Friday morning, 23 December 2022. The suspect was crossing the border from South Africa to Zimbabwe when he was stopped at the Departure Point for a routine check.
During the check, it was established that the vehicle‘s chassis number was tampered with. Thus, members of Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) were summoned and ultimately confirmed that the vehicle; a white Toyota Fortuner was reported stolen earlier this month in Boksburg, Gauteng Province. The suspect was then arrested. He is expected to appear in the Lehurutshe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 28 December 2022, for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
The District Commissioner of Ngaka Modiri Molema, Major General Mmatlhapi Mmolawa applauded the members for their vigilance and cooperation that led to the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of the stolen vehicle.
